Job Description:

A Material Handler's multifunctional role in the Distribution Center setting helps achieve the overall objective of processing Inbound and/or Outbound freight safely, timely, and accurately. Without their critical contribution, achieving these objectives would be challenging.

Major Activities

• The Distribution Center is responsible for fulfilling orders requested by retail stores and other Distribution Centers. The work-related roles within the DC may involve Receiving, Labeling, Putaway, Order Picking, Slotting, Replenishment, eComm order fulfillment, Hybrid throwing, Loading, and specialized positions that need more advanced training, such as Inventory Control. The use of manual or powered industrial machinery and RF guns may be necessary for these tasks.
• Accurately record all modifications to assignments, breaks in production, meetings, and other related activities in a production log to ensure that productivity records remain valid.
• Takes on additional tasks and responsibilities based on the company's needs.

• Basic computer skills for certain roles

• Being able to effectively contribute to group projects, while also being able to work independently on tasks, is a valuable ability in the workforce
• bartenders need to have a good understanding of basic math to calculate drink costs, taxes, and tips accurately
• Certain professions require meticulous record-keeping abilities and a sharp eye for detail
• Effective communication skills can be learned and improved through practice and feedback, allowing individuals to become more confident and successful communicators

• The ideal candidate will have earned a high school degree or its comparable

The Essential Type of Experience Required for the Job:

• Individuals who have operated manual or powered industrial equipment before are preferred
• Candidates with experience in production settings will be better equipped to handle the demands of this position, which requires a basic knowledge of warehouse and distribution center operations

Physical Requirements:

• The recurring practice of lifting and transferring items that weigh anywhere from 5 to 60 pounds
• Repetitive handling of equipment or materials through pushing or pulling techniques
• Continual standing expected when utilizing industrial equipment and performing job duties
• Walking frequently, with the majority of the activity taking place within the warehouse
• Engaging in everyday movements such as stooping, stretching, and twisting to remain physically active
• Repeated use of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers that can cause harm or discomfort

Work Environment:

• The degree of exposure to severe temperatures can be dependent on external weather patterns and the proximity of individuals to dock doors and exit routes
• The noise level coming from the DC conveyor/sortation system and powered industrial equipment can be characterized as moderate
• There may be slight vibrations when operating powered industrial equipment
• Danger of breathing in poisonous fumes and floating particles
